Lay3rs installs a Formlabs Fuse 1+ at Impuls Zeeland

At Lay3rs, we believe that access to the right technology can spark entire communities of innovation. That’s exactly what’s happening in Zeeland — where we recently installed a Formlabs Fuse 1+ SLS 3D printer at Impuls Zeeland, the regional development agency helping entrepreneurs grow sustainably, innovate, and expand internationally.

Formlabs Fuse 1
The Formlabs Fuse 1+ is an industrial SLS 3D printer designed to produce high-performance nylon parts with exceptional strength and precision. Combined with the Fuse Sift, it forms a complete, clean, and efficient production ecosystem — from powder to finished part.

The Fuse 1+ makes professional-grade SLS printing accessible to organizations eager to innovate without compromising on quality.

A new step for regional innovation

With the addition of the Fuse 1+, Impuls Zeeland now offers local entrepreneurs and small to medium-sized companies direct access to advanced Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) technology. This powerful printer bridges the gap between prototyping and small-scale production — enabling companies in the region to experiment, design, and manufacture with industrial precision right from Zeeland.

Guidance from start to first print

Lay3rs advised Impuls Zeeland throughout the process — from evaluating production needs to selecting the right equipment and materials. Together, we built a complete ecosystem with the Fuse 1+ printer, Fuse Sift, and Nylon 12 powder — creating a professional, sustainable workflow for high-performance parts.

This installation marks the start of a long-term knowledge partnership between Lay3rs and Impuls Zeeland. Our shared goal is to make advanced 3D-printing technology accessible to more companies and educational initiatives across the region.

The First Fuse 1+ Training in Zeeland

This week, we took the next major step in our collaboration with Impuls Zeeland: delivering the first official Fuse 1+ training session for their team and a group of local entrepreneurs.

After earlier installing the printer and setting it up for use, we came back this week to focus on skills, workflow, and confidence. After all, an industrial SLS system becomes truly valuable when people know how to use it effectively.

Hands-on introduction to SLS

During the training, we guided the group through the complete Fuse workflow:

  • preparing print jobs in PreForm,

  • safe and efficient powder handling,

  • working with the Fuse Sift,

  • best practices for Nylon 12,

  • and analysing printed parts for production quality.

For many participants, it was their first real encounter with industrial SLS technology. Their excitement was clear — especially around the balance of speed, accuracy, and accessibility offered by the Formlabs Fuse ecosystem.

A growing community of makers in Zeeland

This training day reinforced why Impuls Zeeland invested in this technology: to help companies in the region discover how digital manufacturing can accelerate their innovation. By sharing knowledge and making advanced tools accessible, a community is emerging where entrepreneurship and technology reinforce each other.

For Lay3rs, this is exactly the kind of long-term partnership we believe in: combining expertise, hands-on experience, and the right equipment to lift an entire region’s innovation capacity.
